Abstract: My presentation will consist of four parts. In the first part, I will discuss publishing with Springer Nature, highlighting our editorial standards, our commitments as a publisher, and the different stages of the editorial process. The second part will focus on Scientific Reports—the world’s largest journal by number of articles since 2016—and the reasons why authors may want to choose it as an outlet for their research. In the third part, I will offer practical guidance on how to craft a strong manuscript. Finally, I will provide an overview of what an editorial career involves for those interested in exploring alternative career paths in science.
Bio: Betty Mousikou is a Senior Editor at Scientific Reports. She joined Springer Nature in October 2021, initially as an Associate Editor for the BMC Series and later for Scientific Reports. Prior to her editorial career, Betty spent ten years in academia, working as a Marie Curie Experienced Researcher at Bangor University, a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at Royal Holloway, University of London, and a Research Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin and the University of Göttingen. She holds a PhD in Cognitive Science from Macquarie University in Australia.
