Vangelis Banos, PhD candidate of our department, won the 3rd place in the “Open Public Data Hackathon” organized by the Greek Ministry of Administrative Reform and E-Government.

The aim of the hackathon was to reuse open public data to develop novel added-value applications, contributing to the creation of new knowledge and business applications.

Vangelis created an application called “GRGOV Mobile Search”. It is a web application for Android & iOS devices which enables searching the full text of all public data from the following sources:

• The Cl@rity Opengov Project,
• The Greek Legislation published by the National Publishing Service,
• The Central Electronic Registry for Public Contracts.
